Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage technical aspects of Product Design projects from ideation/concept to launch working closing with the cross-functional team utilizing lean product development techniques

The Role

Amphenol Industrial Operations is seeking a Cable Assembler to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Mesa.

The key responsibilities of this Cable Assembler include, but are not limited to:

  • Read, interpret and follow blueprints and job instructions to accurately assemble product.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures
  • Responsible for the production of wire harness and cable assemblies using hand and/or power tools (including specialized crimpers, drills, soldering tools, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, precision measuring instruments, etc.)
  • Pull parts kits from inventory, layout components, examine parts for defects and BOM discrepancies.
  • Cleanly route wiring to back of connectors or panels according to diagrams.
  • Solder and/or crimp contacts to wire ends.
  • Use epoxy and adhesives to backfill/encapsulate backshells.
  • Conduct in process inspections on product in accordance with drawings and quality specifications, using a variety of electrical testing and gauging devices. Volt-meter, ohm-meter, automated continuity tester, etc…
  • Attach electrical devices to mounting holes with bolts and screws.
  • Record labor hours correctly, and complete work-orders, as required.
  • Interface with supervisor and/or manager to give progress updates as required.
  • Maintain equipment & clean around work area. Follow all EHS guidelines & polices
  • Maintain and clean and safe work area.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Cable Assembler at Amphenol Industrial Operations:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Manufacturing experience preferred. Minimum zero to two years of experience in assembly of electrical, electronic, and mechanical parts using standard hand tools using industry procedures, within a production environment preferred.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language, so they can understand and comply with drawings, schematic diagrams, or specific written instructions.
  • Must possess fine motor skills including manual dexterity; steady hands; good eye hand coordination. Attention to detail is imperative.
  • The employee is expected to be at their assigned workstation ready to work at their assigned starting time. Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, in order to meet business needs. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to research drawings in drawing database program.
  • Ability to use computer software to report labor on shop orders.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as cable length, strip lengths, final assembly lengths etc.

The Role

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain quality records on internal results, internal corrective action process, MRB activity, RMA process and publishing reports to ADC Management for resolution.
  • Work with manufacturing/quality staff to resolve or eliminate any quality issues disclosed by quality control process.
  • Prepare required quality reports and follow up on any and all failure analysis/corrective action needed.

  • Serve as key point of contact for Customer complaints directed from Customer Service or the Customer directly for Root Cause Analysis as well as Corrective & Preventive Action and verification.
  • To perform inspection duties for incoming & outgoing materials as required.
  • Promote and Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the quality Organization for proactive tools such as lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing, Measurement System Analysis, Advance System Analysis, Advance Product and Quality Planning (APQP) Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Participating in joint evaluations and investigations with engineering to assess product anomalies and provide root cause corrective action plans

  • Experience in cabling, module and sub-assembly testing, and inspection
  • Excellent communication skills required, including being able to work with staff in China and Mexico that have English as a second language.
  • Must have computer proficiency and knowledge of MS Word.
  • Experience in maintaining a QMS that complies with ISO Certification
